KOBO is thrilled to feature Rika Manabe's work. Rika is a photographer based in Seattle. Born in Kagoshima, Japan, she earned a Master's degree in Mass Communications and Photojournalism from San Jose State University, CA. Rika specializes in photojournalism, documentary and travel photography. Her work has been published and exhibited internationally e.g., at Squamish Museum (USA), Seattle Public Library (USA), The Mall Gallery (UK), M.A.D.S Art Gallery (Milan).
What do we like about Rika's photo aesthetic? Its dreamy, ethereal quality, and ability to evoke nostalgia. There's a cinematic element -- we could get lost in the still -- listening to its soundtrack on repeat.
